A global online live streaming marathon with international contributors. An inclusive discovery event on design and creative solutions 16 hours across all the continents for sharing best practices and impactful ideas #foodchangers in action

WHY?

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) established World Food Day at their 20th General Conference in 1979. World Food Day is held every year on October 16th. On this day, all countries unite to raise awareness of the issues surrounding poverty and hunger.

WHAT?

World Food Design Day 2021( #WFDD21) is an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the value of DESIGN for (re)think and (re)design the current food systems. We challenge students, designers, practitioners, producers, chefs, creative people, food professionals and more, to present their actions for activating and creating more sustainable food systems and experiences ( i.e.: food waste, circular economy, food policies, food security, SDGs, culinary arts and gastronomy, supply food chain, etc.).

GOAL:

The aim is to show how creativity and design can empower people, activate changes, create concrete solutions and support impactful actions toward more sustainable food systems.

CALL TO ACTION:

How are you impacting food systems? Inspire and show us your project.
We are not looking for speeches or conventional academic presentations. We are looking to see you in action, in your field!

We want to see you and your friends, colleagues, family, collaborators at work, using design to create new things, behaviors, rituals, edible products, objects of use or communication, spaces, processes, systems, services and more, relating to sustainable food. We are looking for concrete, real, impactful ideas!

We welcome contributors from all around the world, to present their projects regardless of prototypes, projects in progress, concluded or commercialized, or simply showing actual and concrete activities related to food and design in the field (i.e.:visits, workshops, demonstrations …). The only fundamental request for being a WFDD #foodchangers: please share concrete and feasible projects, inspiring ideas, good practices for concrete and positive impact!
